CAKEOLOGY BAKERY
CAKEOLOGY BAKERY
BOSTON, MA
At only 650 square feet, this Downtown Boston cupcake shop was designed to maximize space and to look as sweet as the confections created by owner Victoria Donnelly, a 2010 “Cupcake Wars” winner. Creative storage solutions and materials that emulate swirled icing, cupcake papers, and pie safe screens make the space fun, interesting, and functional. Repurposing instead of building from scratch played a big role in this small space. The coffee station was a purchased credenza that was customized with new pulls, integrated trash bins, and inset panels covered with the same wallcovering at the display counter. The gate to the kitchen was made from multiple decorative iron panels originally sold as wall art. The menu board started as a framed mirror and was transformed with new color, a magnetic insert, and painted alphabet letters. These modifications resulted in one-of-a-kind furnishings for a one-of-a-kind client!
